Story Line

Like many people I am often influenced by what I read. Ever since I was a child, I would dive
deep into a book and be taken away to a new world. These worlds freed me from problems of everyday life ranging from childhood bullies to intense anxieties and depression as an adult.  Whether written, spoken, or illustrated; I still find solace in stories.  It only seemed natural for
me to illustrate my favorite tales and create a few of my own!

The Pit

This series was inspired by Edgar Allen Poe's story The Pit and the Pendulum.  Its intention
is to represent the finality of death, as well as the idea that even during out deepest and darkest times there is always a way out of the pit into the light.

Night Storm

"Night Storm" is a collage created using photography and digital manipulation.  Its story is
of a dark and spooky night; a night where the imagination can run rampant amongst the wind
and between the lightning strikes.

The Glass Coffin

This digital painting was inspired the Grimm fairy tale The Glass Coffin.  In the tale the hero stumbles upon a cave that is lined with glowing glass jars and ends in a chamber with a single glass coffin with a fair maiden inside.  For my depiction of the story, I decided to play with a gender swap approach to modernize the tale.
